Game Compilations

I have no life, and I am immensely proud of myself for that.
I should go do the other hundred thousand trainers with decent character art. Who's with me?
Cilan is so loving towards his pokemon, it's adorable. Even Ash doesn't look this adorable when he's surrounded by his pokemon(all fifty+ of them).

How the heck does Cilan manage to pack a foldable table, two chairs, all that cookware, food supplies and that ginormous sleeping bag into that little backpack of his? Wait. Two tables.

Let's attribute it to Gym Leader Awesomeness.

Why, Iris?

Seriously?
I know where this is going.

Since Iris has been revealed as the Big Boss for B2W2, I guess that makes a small problem for her anime self. What's the solution? Why, throw her a pseudo-legendary all ready for the taking! And a strong, irritable one at that!

And of all things, throw her a Dragonite. Why a dragonite? Her game persona doesn't even have a dragonite. At the very least, they could've levelled her Kibago up a little, or at least give her a hydreigon. I can understand why not a Crimgan, but WHY A DRAGONITE?

Seriously, why? Dragonite is already the signature pokemon of a certain caped champion and his crazy cousin. Introducing another one, and another one that looks exactly like this one from Pokemon Special HGSS--
Yeah. And that's Lance's.

Not that I'm saying it's really a bad thing (it's nice to see some characters TakeALevelInBadass), but Iris' strength could've been improved in a better way than letting her suddenly obtain a random Pseudo-Legendary, and one that's almost never existed in Unova. At any rate, I know very well that she can't evolve that kibago, since it remains a huge mascot for the kids, but why not get something that isn't already used by a champion? Just as long as it's not a Dragonite or a Garchomp, she's open to a Salamence and Hydreigon as well.

Or let her get over her fear of ice types by introducing her to a lapras. That would be excellent character development, and it'd help lessen the difference between her team and her GameTeam.

Oh, right. Speaking of GameTeam. Anyone remember this guy?

Probably not.

It seems like the writers've decided to make Dento walk down Brock's path, becoming even more OutofFocus that Brock ever has been. So far, he's had even fewer victories than Iris, despite being a pretty strong trainer, and a Gym Leader at that. Plus, we can't forget how badass he is at fishing, detective work (somewhat debateable), and all that other stuff. Care to see how he caught Stunfisk?
No. Pokemon. Used.
Sadly, they've made him into the Moveable Background I mentioned somewhat earlier, in fact the only pokemon he's allowed to battle and win with is Iwapalace. His poor Stunfisk has yet to win a match, and his adorable Yanappu is overshadowed by Kibago and Pikachu. Those three need more appearances.

Somehow, I just wish they could make him a little more prominent in the series. I've grown to like Dento and Iris a lot, but I'm not exactly supportive of Iris getting all the attention while Dento just stands in the corner. At the very least, they could make him participate in even more battles(they wouldn't even let his Yanappu fight a single measly Onix, despite having three super-effective moves against Onix), or catch some other grass-type or Awesomesocks pokemon(like his adorable Muggyo) to equal Iris' strength. In the Games, he has a really cool lilligant. Or a Jumpluff. Or a Whimsicott. Pleeease?

But really, why DO they make him lose so often? It's not like he's really that bad. Although most of his losses have been attributed to him talking too much... Ah, well. Just don't lose your awesomeness and love towards Iris.

This matchup may have been impossible, but it's Awesome impossible. THANK you, PWT.

A Terrifying Thought

What if Cilan finishes his battle by going up against Dawn in the Pokemon World Tournament Junior Cup and loses? The writers have a nasty habit of making him lose his second match very often. If that happens, I will cry for days on end.

Or if he loses against that Galvantula(first match), I will also cry. Please make Cilan as awesome as his game persona, AnimeWriters. I will buy ten copies of M15 if you do. Five in English, five in japanese with english subs.

Movie!Keldeo and Movie!Kyurem are awesomely awesome.

And Anime!Meloetta is a slut. As shown at 6.26.

Cilan's Tasting Times are as fabulous as ever. Please kiss Iris already.

Ten Pokemon is like, totally legal.

I was looking over Ash's BW Team in Ending three (God, I love that song).

Then, I started wondering why Ash's team looked so.....tiny. And then I went to Bulbapedia and put together a picture of Ash's potential team, if he had painstakingly trained every single one and raised them to their full potential.

A little different.

You don't mess with the Dento.

I notice that three-quarters of the time I watch Best Wishes, I'm looking at Dento. And his Yanappu. But mostly Dento.

Which really doesn't help when he crossdresses.
WHY.

Why they put Cilan and Iris in Best Wishes, part two.

Continued from where I was earlier on.
I was writing about how Cilan represents Black in BW, while Iris represents White, right? Something like that, at least. Further investigation proves this. Take the Museum Episode;
Throughout the episode, Iris bases her suspicions of a curse on the museum on her gut feeling, with no real basis to it. Cilan, on the other hand, insists on finding a factual, scientific way of explaining all the weird stuff that's going on. If you've played, or at least know the background of the BW games, Black is based on a futuristic version on Isshu, while White is somewhat rural and old-fashioned. Similarly, Iris and Cilan fit this to a tee. Iris is a natural "wild child", who prefers sleeping on tree branches and hammocks, and knows little about scientific knowledge at best. Cilan is a smart-dressed, sophisticated sommelier, who believes in cold, hard facts.
This comparison is even more obvious when looking through the series.

Compare Cilan's idea of preparing a meal....
And Iris' idea. A little different, yes?

The last part of this comparison is Yin and Yang. For those who don't know, Wikipedia shall reveal all.

"Yin is female and yang is male. They fit together as two parts of a whole. The male principle was equated with the sun: active, bright, and shining; the female principle corresponds to the moon: passive, shaded, and reflective. Male toughness was balanced by female gentleness, male action and initiative by female endurance and need for completion.
Yin is characterized as slow, soft, yielding, diffuse, cold, wet, and passive; and is associated with water, earth, the moon, feminity and nighttime.
Yang, by contrast, is fast, hard, solid, focused, hot, dry, and aggressive; and is associated with fire, sky, the sun, masculinity and daytime."

Yin is the black and Yang is the white. Watch Cilan and Iris through Best Wishes and tell me he doesn't act feminine and she doesn't act tomboyish.  The Yin and Yang idea also fits the idea of Cilan and Iris being Black and White respectively, along with what they represent.

But of course, this isn't all bad. In fact, I'd say it's a great move by the series' writers to introduce two new travelling partners with different personalities, but teriffic interactions. This is even better for Wishfulshippers, in fact---Yin completes Yang, and Yang completes Yin. Squee.

Just like this example here. Yes, it's official artwork.

Wishfulshippers rejoice, your relationship has been further solidified.

Now just to start wondering why Misty and Brock were chosen to be Ash's travelling partners in Kanto....

Black's expressions are the best thing in BW other than Iris' constant appearances.

The Reason why they put Iris and Cilan in Best Wishes

Purely Headcanon, no real confirmation so far.

So I was re-watching BW86 for the hilarious Wishfulshipping moment between these two, and the epic conclusion to the Gym Battle, when I started asking myself why Cilan and Iris had such weird makeups. So I went to look at them again. Then it hit me.
Oh my GAWD. Reshiram and Zekrom.
Reshiram is Fire/Dragon while Zekrom is Electric/Dragon. Reshiram represents Truth while Zekrom represents Ideals. Hitting you yet?
The reason why Ash has left Brock and the regional female player character behind in Unova wasn't just because they weren't popular enough, or that people were getting bored(although I admit, I enjoyed the change very much), but to grill the BW reference in even deeper.

Iris. She represents the ideals of the series of Pokemon, that she dreams to become a Dragon Master, and has the goal of rasing her Kibago into an Ononokus.

Cilan. He represents the truth that is seen in the relationships between trainer and pokemon, so I guess his sommelier stuff isn't all bull after all.

When you play the BW game, your two rivals are Cheren and Bianca, who represent Ideals and Truth respectively. You, the player(Hilbert or Hilda), are the one who is somewhere in between, something Ash is following pretty closely right now. If anyone's asking questions like why Cress or Chilli weren't chosen to be Ash's travelling partner instead of Cilan, I guess that they just can't fit the role as well as Cilan probably could. Same with Iris and Hilda.

Reshiram and Zekrom are Yin and Yang, just like how Cilan and Iris act for much of the BW series. This totally plays in so well I can't believe I didn't notice it earlier.
I see what you did there.
I can't decide whether to call him Cilan or Dento. Dento seems more normal to me, but everytime I say that, people keep asking me why I'm talking about japanese lunch boxes.

Somewhere, Cilan is screaming in fear and Iris is hugging him in consolation.

Cilan is hot, Iris is cute, both are decent trainers, both are gym leaders in BW1, neither are gym leaders in BW2, and the list goes on and on and on.
Ain't I a sucker for Wishfulshipping?
